Oral Conscious Sedation

For children that have high anxiety surrounding dental procedures, we offer oral conscious sedation. The medications given to the child enhance their cooperation and reduce their anxiety. They’re not unconscious during the procedure and can breathe on their own. Their vital signs are monitored through the entire process.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Nitrous oxide sedation is the most popular method used to help our patients feel comfortable during restorative dentistry procedures. Another term for it is “laughing gas.” It’s an effective and safe method that can calm a child’s fear.

Hospital Sedation

Depending on the age, anxiety level, or individual needs of a patient, we may suggest hospital sedation. We also might suggest this for more time-consuming treatments. This works by putting the patient under general anesthesia. Under this sedation, children won’t have any memory of the procedure. It is a safe method that we employ on a case-by-case basis. Following treatment, we would discuss what occurred during the procedure as well as next steps with you and your child.
